Transition Gathering

A transition camp

Is there a railway, a bus or a boat that will get me and other intrepid gatherers from Bristol?

Cheers,

Ale

hopefully traveling by boat will not be appropriate!

The nearest mainline train station is Haywards Heath. I'll look into seeing if we can arrange transport to met a few trains on Friday.

Actually the nearest station is Sheffield Park on the Bluebell Railway - and you could walk from there. That would definitely be a fun way to travel! To do that take the train to East Grinstead and then a short taxi to Kingscote station.

Sheffield Park (arr) 12:29 2:29 4:29

Hi Mike,

The bluebell trip sounds nicest. I've asked around a bit at Transition Bristle and if we co-ordinate somehow, we'll try and pass through there! I wonder if we can discount the taxi by bringing bikes, that's if they let them on the various trains.

I can't find the actual address including postcode of the venue.
I plan to bring a bike. Does bluebell line carry them?

As you have now found Bluebell Railway does carry bikes in a traditional Guards van. One of our circular bike rides from Forest Row is down to Sheffield Park and then train back to Kingscote.

We are proposing to arrange a pick up from Haywards Heath station at 3pm & 7pm on Friday

If you want to take advantage of this please let me know directly or just post here so that we know numbers.

There is a also a bus to North Chailey, Kings Head Pub bust stop from both Lewes and Haywards Heath. You could walk from there but the road is not great for walking if you do that call and we will arrange to pick you up from the bus stop (if it is raining wait in bus shelter on opposite side of the road)

correction to the time below - we are planning to pick up at 4pm from Haywards Heath station - direct trains leave from London Victoria and can also be picked up from Clapham Junction and Gatwick airport - connections can also be made from London Bridge (Change at East Croydon).

Note that mobile reception is patchy there - SMS me on 07974924289
